Camp O’Rear is a 90-acre Scout camp located in Jasper. It is owned and operated by the Black Warrior Council as a primitive-style facility. Camp O’Rear does have a small dining hall (with one large room, one small room, kitchen, fireplace, and bathrooms); a troop lodge with sleeping quarters, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a meeting area; and a large pavilion area that sits close to the Black Water Creek. A highlight of Camp O’Rear is the swinging bridge. There are plenty of areas for hiking, camping, and exploring. Camp O’Rear is a beautiful facility and is one of the most diverse areas in terms of Alabama’s wildlife and flora.
